Mr. Habitat 2010: That 70's Theme

Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity crowns SEECA Physician Assistant Michael Kliebert Mr. Habitat 2010!!! Can You Dig It?  Mr. Habitat 2010, featured a 70's Theme.

The 2010 Mr. Habitat Contest took place on Thursday July 15th at the Cypress Columns in Gray.

Michael Kliebert had this to say about his win, "As the reigning Mr. Habitiat 2010, I'll say WINNING IS EVERYTHING! I didn't know much about Habitat, but now that I've done some research on the organization I realize these Volunteers bring hope and dreams to people that truly deserve a place to call home that wouldn't have had this opportunity without Habitat! One Great thing about fundraising for the contest was I was able to educate the public about what Habitat for Humanity provided for people in our community. More people need to experience, first hand, the presentation of a set of keys to someone who truly appreciates the opportunity for home ownership, a very emotional, heartfelt experience. I have personally challanged several of my friends and business owners to become more aware of what Habitat does and hopefully that will turn into more help to the organization."

The contest featured men from the local community who competed for the prestigious title of Mr. Habitat. Loosely based as a reverse beauty pageant, men competed in different events such as muscial chairs and Habitat trivia; while women judge. It was a night of fun and enjoyment as numerous local restaurants supplied the food, items were auctioned off. By the end of the night, the contestants and their actions had everyone leaving with a smile, especially knowing that all proceeds benefit such a worthy cause.

While being supported and cheered on by family and friends, Michael Kliebert walked away with the title of Mr. Habitat 2010. With the contestant's characters running the gambit of Rerun from "What's Happening" to NBA player Julius 'Dr. J' Erving to Dolly Parton, the crowd watched with anticipation as Michael Kliebert as Dolly Parton edged out the other eight competitors who battled for the title of Mr. Habitat 2010.
