Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity in partnership with Wal-Mart has joined together on the volunteer project, “The Colonel Construction Crew.” The program will honor Nicholls State University students, faculty, staff and alumni which participate in volunteering opportunities with the affordable home building organization.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni who volunteer a total of 10 service hours or two work days over the course of one semester, either on the construction site or in the affiliate’s ReStore, will receive a Colonel Construction Crew t-shirt, which will feature Nicholls State University’s logo along with the “Colonel Construction Crew” logo in the upper left chest.

The program, which was started out of a need to connect with more local volunteers, is geared to attract the Nicholls community.  Bayou Area Habitat has hosted groups from over 20 colleges and universities in the past two years and is looking to do more with Nicholls.

Volunteer efforts are ongoing with construction in locations in Houma, Thibodaux and Gray along with Bayou Area Habitat ReStore located in Thibodaux.  If you have any question or would like to volunteer with Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity please contact   [ Michele Miller ] at (985) 447-6999 EXT. 222.
